VIP FLIGHT ATTENDANT: THE COMPLETE JOB DESCRIPTION

Real missions, expected skills, the qualities that make the difference and the paths in: the honest portrait of a rare profession.

One profession, three responsibilities

VIP Flight Attendant, private jet flight attendant, corporate cabin crew: the names vary, the profession is the same. On board a private jet, you are responsible for three things at once: cabin safety according to the operator's procedures, the passengers' complete experience from first contact to disembarkation, and the image of the company or owner with a clientele that does not tolerate approximation.

The great difference with commercial aviation comes down to one word: autonomy. Depending on the aircraft, you are alone or in a pair in the cabin. No purser above you, no team of ten colleagues, no standardised procedure for every service situation: you are the on-board experience.

The concrete missions

Before the flight: cabin preparation, catering orders with high-end providers, table setting, checking each passenger's documented preferences, coordination with the flight crew. During the flight: welcome, meal and drink service to private service standards, constant and discreet attention, handling special requests and the unexpected. After the flight: restoring the cabin, reports, preparing the next rotation. And between flights: impeccable availability and presentation, because in business aviation, service begins before the cabin door.

The skills that make the profession

Four families of skills appear in every job description in the sector. High-end service first: table setting, protocols, wine and food service, palace standards adapted to a flying space. Discretion next: you work alongside executives, families and public figures, and confidentiality is a professional skill in its own right. Poise and communication: impeccable presentation, fluent conversational English, natural ease with an international clientele. Composure finally: alone in the cabin, every unexpected event is yours, from the late caterer to turbulence during service.

The human qualities that count as much

Recruiters in the sector say it: with equal skills, human qualities decide. Anticipation, the ability to see the need before it is expressed. Flexibility, because business aviation schedules move with the clients. The humility of service, which is not servility but the professionalism of those who know excellence lives in details. And genuine emotional stability: luxury is a demanding environment, sometimes under pressure, always under the client's eye.

Where the job is practised, and under what conditions

The job exists wherever jets fly: with a private owner on their aircraft, with an operator running a fleet, or freelance from mission to mission. Rhythms vary, with planned rosters such as 15 ON / 15 OFF, and entry-level pay generally between €3,500 and €4,000 a month, detailed in our salary article. The concrete conditions are in the job in 6 practical questions.

How you become a VIP Flight Attendant

No specific diploma, no imposed background, no mandatory CCA in the private sector: the profession opens to those who master the standards of private service and can demonstrate it in applications and interviews. These standards can be learned, from professionals who still practise them. That is precisely what separates ignored applications from launched careers.
